Identifies synthetic loose and mounted diamonds through its low UV absorption.
The Synthetic Diamond Screener is developed to help screen out synthetic Type lla colourless diamonds, which are likely to be synthetic and created through chemical vapor deposition (CVD) or high pressure high temperature (HPHT) syntheses, from natural type Ia colourless diamonds.

When subjected to this deep UV irradiation, type Ia and type IIa diamonds each absorb different amount of UV light.
Type IIa diamonds allow deeper UV light to pass through and thus its UV light absorption ability is low.
This different in the light absorption is significant enough to aid in differentiating between colourless Type Ia and Type IIa diamonds.

The Assure Program, by the Diamond Producers Association (DPA) has developed a universal standard to test the performance of Diamond Verification Instruments in a consistent way, with the aim of protecting the integrity of the global jewelry supply chain. The instruments are rigorously tested in a transparent manner against a unique common sample and standard.
Each instrument is tested on the ASSURE Core Sample, a highly contamined sample made up to 1,000 natural diamonds and 200 synthetic diamonds including very challenging synthetic diamonds, some of which are not yet available in the market.
Presidium Synthetic Diamond Screener (SDS II) has been ASSURE TESTED by an independent third party through ASSURE program. The SDS II is currently the only ASSURE TESTED Diamond Verification Instrument that retails for less than US$1,000.
The SDS II uses advanced technology that measures a diamonds UV light transmittance ability. It is a portable desktop diamond verification insturment suitable for both loose and mounted stones, including melees as small as 0.02ct. Easy to use and battery operated, its indicator light bars give a blue light to indicate that the stone is a natural diamond and a red light to indicate a Type IIa diamond. The device gives clear and accurate results within two seconds.
